Vortex Land Claims
In Vortex, the game world is divided into 400 Regions, each containing 100 Plots. Players can claim land in the form of Plots based on the NFTs they hold, with each Plot having unique Terrains and Poi
Regions and Plots
Regions: The game world is divided into 400 Regions, each containing 100 Plots. Regions have a letter and number designation
Plots: Each Plot has a unique Terrain type and Point Value. Plots in a Region are numbered 1 to 100 in column, then row order.
Terrains and Point Values
Terrains are categorized into four rarities: Common, Rare, Ultra, and Epic. Each Terrain type has a base Point Value:

Terrain Assignment
Players may choose any Terrain available from those available for their NFT's rarity until an aggregate of 25,000 Vortex NFTs are minted. After this threshold, the availability of Terrains will be algorithmically adjusted based on the Terrains already used.
Point Value Index (PVI)
The PVI is calculated as follows:
Start with the Base Point Value of the Terrain.
If the Plot’s Terrain is the same as orthogonally or diagonally adjacent Plots:
Add 1/10 of the Point Value of each Plot owned by the same player.
Subtract 1/5 of the Point Value of each Plot owned by another player.
If the Plot's Terrain differs from orthogonally or diagonally adjacent Plots:
Subtract 1/2 of the Point Value of each Plot regardless of who owns the Plot
PVI calculations are uni-directional. They affect the PVI of the new Plot but not existing Plots.
A Point Value Index that is less than zero is equal to zero.
Example
Plot Selection Strategy
Initial Placement
The first Plot in an empty Region can be placed anywhere. This allows players to start their territory in a strategic location without restrictions. Choose Plots with high Base Point Values to maximize your starting PVI.
Subsequent Placements
All subsequent Plots in the Region must be orthogonally adjacent to an existing Plot. This encourages players to build contiguous territories, maximizing the benefits of adjacent Plot bonuses and strategic control over the Region. Consider how the placement of new Plots will affect your PVI, taking advantage of adjacent bonuses and minimizing penalties from Terrain transitions.
Terrain Transition
Switching between different Terrain types incurs a PVI penalty. Players should aim to expand within the same Terrain type to avoid transition penalties, thus maintaining higher PVI values. Plan your expansions to create large contiguous areas of the same Terrain, which will benefit from higher PVI. But you might opt to take the hit on the PVI Terrain transition penalty in order to create a Plot layout that has different Terrains in the same Region for future strategic benefit.
Terrain Production
Each Terrain type produces Fixures (objects intended to be added to the Terrain), Assets (objects intended to be used in the game), and has unique economic potential through various activities. Here are some examples:

Terrain Graphics
Initially Terrains are visually depicted as colored squares. In the future they will have rich and varied graphics created by artists in the community. We will introduce a new License in VTRUSuite called "Vortex Terrain." Artists will create Vortex Terrain graphics, which will be available in the Vortex Marketplace.
All Terrain graphics will be available for a flat fee of one Collector Credit, valued at $10. To enhance the visual appeal of their Plots, players will be airdropped one Collector Credit per Vortex NFT they hold. This allows players to acquire Terrain graphics for free, making their Plots more visually distinctive and appealing.
Gameplay Mechanics
First Plot: Players can choose any Plot in an empty Region for their initial placement. This allows flexibility in starting position and strategic planning.
Expansion: Each new Plot must be orthogonally adjacent to an existing Plot. This encourages players to build connected territories and increases the strategic importance of Plot placement.
Territory Control: Maintaining a contiguous territory helps increase PVI, offering advantages in terms of taxes, rent, and resource production.
PVI Impact: Plots with higher PVI yield better returns, making them more valuable for generating income and resources.
Tips for Players
Early Expansion: Aim to claim high-value Terrains early to maximize PVI and strategic advantage.
Adjacent Benefits: Connect Plots to take advantage of the PVI bonuses from adjacent Plots.
Strategic Placement: Consider the impact of other players' Plots on your PVI and plan your expansions to mitigate negative effects.
Monitor Changes: Reevaluate Plot values periodically as new Plots are claimed, adjusting your strategy accordingly.
Terrain Transition: You may be tempted to fill an entire Region with Terrain of the highest Base Point Value but if you do this you will find it difficult to acquire Assets required for different aspects of the game. Each Terrain is capable of generating only a limited set of Assets and by diversifying Terrains in the same Region you can be assured of getting a good mix of Assets based on the upcoming Asset Generation rules of game.
Future Game Development
As Vortex continues to evolve, the importance of PVI will increase. Future game features may include:
Taxes and Rent: Higher PVI Plots may generate more income through taxes or rent, providing a steady revenue stream for players.
Resource Production: Plots with higher PVI may produce more resources, enhancing the player's ability to expand and improve their territory.
Tolls and Fees: Players may charge tolls for access to high PVI Plots, creating strategic chokepoints and enhancing territorial control.
Upgrades and Enhancements: Higher PVI Plots may be eligible for upgrades and enhancements, further increasing their value and strategic importance.
Understanding and optimizing PVI will be crucial for players who want to succeed in Vortex. By strategically selecting and expanding Plots, players can maximize their returns and dominate the game world.
Special Notes
Isolation of Regions: Regions are isolated from each other. Even though two Regions may be adjacent to each other, they are isolated.
Plot Ownership Duration: Plot ownership duration may be relevant in future aspects of the game. The Block Number is used to calculate the duration of ownership.
Hidden Caches: Sometimes taking over a Plot may uncover a hidden cache of VTRU. This is yours. Enjoy.
HQ Regions: HQ Regions are not available for gameplay currently.
